Answer the questions about native city, write 3 paragraphs correctly, use city vocabulary and word combinations, use linking words, write own opinion, peer check and correct writings.

The teacher asks the learners to read the model text about Brighton and answer some questions.

Learners read the text and answer the questions:

  1. Where is Brighton?
  2. What are famous places in Brighton?
  3. Where does the hero live?

(organization, grammar, vocabulary)

Teacher focuses students’ attention on the organization of the text, vocabulary and grammar used by asking questions.

Learners answer teacher’s questions:

How many paragraphs do the text have?

In which paragraph we learn about location of Brighton?

In which paragraph we learn about weather of Brighton?

In which paragraph we learn about hero’s house and favourite place?

Why do we use there is/there are structure?

What new vocabulary can we see?

Encourage students to answer the questions. Tell students they will write the same essay about their native city.

Teacher gives instructions.

Students do the eyes exercise and relax

5. Writing task

45 min

Teacher gives instructions to do the task. Teacher introduces with success criteria:

  1. Three paragraphs.
  2. 9-10 sentences.
  3. Two linking words
  4. Topic related vocabulary
  5. Correct grammar and spelling

Two points for each criterion.

Learners write draft essays in their copy books.

Monitor the writing process. Help with language and vocabulary if needed.
